Calling All Artists!

A brand new internet enterprise which offers both established and aspiring artists a unique and exciting opportunity is being developed right here on the Costa Blanca.

www.twigaart.com
is a revolutionary concept - a website which offers artists an “Internet Gallery” to display and even sell their work to a worldwide audience.

Visitors to twigaart.com can quickly view a selection of each exhibitor’s work.  By clicking on clear thumbnail images enlarged pictures are displayed together with further details including materials used and size. If the artist wishes, the viewer can then purchase an original, or if a painting, a limited or open edition print. Orders and payments are taken on the site.

Keith Geddes, the mastermind behind the project, has been painting on and off for a few years, but has been able to spend much more time on his art since moving to the Costa Blanca with his young family in 2002. He said, “The idea for twigaart.com first came to me some months ago. As an artist myself I realised how few people actually saw my work and yet how positive they were when they did see it. I just thought the internet would be a perfect way to show my pictures to a wider audience.”  Keith’s work was of course the first to go on line!

Artists who wish to become members pay an annual fee depending on the number of works to be displayed and whether they are to be offered for sale. Charges start at 30 euros per annum and membership can be applied for on line.

Keith again, “The quality of the work is of course important but we are not elitist! We want our members to feel that they belong to a group whose work is of a similar calibre and we welcome applications from all genres. Artists can use twigaart.com alongside standard gallery exhibitions, but this is also a great opportunity for those who might not otherwise show their work in public.”

Mark Cohen, Keith’s partner, is responsible for the design and marketing of the web site. “Performance was an issue. Images on the internet are notoriously slow if the site has not been well programmed and visitors can soon be put off by lengthy waits and patchy responses. Additionally security and reliability are key to processing payments on line.”

Twigaart has also established links with experienced professionals to undertake the production of print work to ensure even the least informed member can provide their customer with a quality product.

In all, twigaart.com is set to take off. Keith ends, “So far the response has been fantastic and new artists are taking an interest every day. I would just say to all those working away at home and in art classes, don’t be shy! Give your work a wider audience and maybe sell your originals and prints!”
