GAMES RESULTS Here is a resume of Round 19 Sunday games in the Spanish League, known Worldwide as "La Liga", with results & scorers. REAL MADRID hosted bottom Club OSASUNA after an intense week that saw its President Calderon resign due to scandal. The crowd & the atmosphere was tense, plus expectant to see how the team would react. In the end it turned out to be an extremely controversial game with Osasuna going away with a 3-1 defeat & with a Red card to their player Jorge who received double yellow for faking penalties, however they both looked correct. This left Osasuna down with 10 men that allowed Real Madrid to take over & score a goal towards the end. Osasuna scored first in the 19th min via NEKOUNAM& were clearly in the driving seat & dominating the match. Then a goalkeeper mistake by Osasuna was taken by SERGIO RAMOS in the 50th min to equalize for Real . This & the not called penalty (another later) frustrated & took away the concentration from Osasuna which allowed Real Madrid to pounced via HIGUAÍN in the 63rd min from a Robbin pass to take the lead.
With Osasuna down with 10 men, ROBBEN put the nail in the coffin of Osasuna scoring in the 93rd min. The Dutchmen put in another notable game, giving goal pass to Higuaín & scoring himself. In conclusion, a victory & 3 points for Real, but it was a very bad game for Real & very controversial. VILLAREAL needed to win to keep the pace with the top teams & they did just that winning second last on the ladder MALLORCA 2-0. The goals came from CAPDEVILA in the 28th min & via ROSSI in the 32rd min with a penalty. Racing Serbian giant forward, on loan from Valencia, again scored for RACING & gave them the 0-1 victory over GETAFE. REAL BETIS are attempting to stay clear from the relegation zone & took a step towards that objective with its away 1-3 win over VALLADOLID. The goals for Betis came via XISCO (16th m) & two from SERGIO GARCIA ( 63rd & 93rd m. For Valladolid their only goal came via PRIETO in the 22th min. RECREATIVO is fighting to stay out of the relegation zone & it showed, as they put in a "gutsy" game to win 2-0 against SPORTING OF GIJON who were themselves disappointing. The two vital goals for Recreativo came from JORGE (5th min) & ADRIAN(55th m). An important victory for Recreativo! MALAGA are on the steps of the European classification positions & continue with their great results. The sent ESPANYOL into more despair with a 4-0 win that puts the latter in relegation danger. The goals for Malaga came from ADRIAN (34m); APOÑO via a penalty (55th m); BAHA via a penalty (88 m) & ALBERT LUQUE (92th m)
Fantastic game between ATHLETIC DE BILBAO & VALENCIA CF with the former winning in the last moment 3-2. Bilbao at home are a very difficult side & never give up in front of their loyal crowd. The "Lions" were never nervous through the game & in the end their effort payed off. Valencia went ahead first via DAVID VILLA in the 1st min, to see GABILONDO equalize in the 17th min via a perfect header. Valencia continued attacking & in the 29th min MORIENTES put Valencia ahead from a Villa pass. However, Bilbao were in their home & drew via JAVI MARTINEZ in the 41st min. The 2nd half was end to end stuff to see towards the end of the game a penalty be rewarded to Bilbao & LLORENTE converted it to give the victory to the local team. ALMERIA managed a 1-1 draw against ATLETICO DE MADRID which is very disappointing for the latter. A string of bad performances from Atletico are close to taking them out of the European places on the ladder. They cling to the 6th place with Malaga breathing on their necks, the pressure is on Coach Aguirre who is losing points with the Club & the fan base. Almeria started scoring first via a defensive & goalkeeper mistake that allowed UCHE to score in the 6th min. Then Atletico reacted from a set piece that also saw a defensive error from Almeria that allowed S.PONGOLLE to equalize in the 21st min. Then Almeria received an "unjust" Red Card & were left with 10 men. Under this situation Atletico could not take advantage as Almeria went totally defensive & built a "wall". From here & until the end, missed opportunities & a late red card for At.Madrid midfielder Benegas - again! Almeria should be partly happy & At.Madrid are sadly sliding, a situation that many cannot really explain. DAKER 2009: MARC COMA WINS IN BIKES SFS congratulates Spanish Motorbike rider MARC COMA for winning this years The traditional Daker run through Northern Africa changed this year to South America after terrorist threats last year. The Spanish rider was dominant during the whole rally being far the superior rider, & return to Buenos Aires in front to take the prized title. In the car catagory, the winner was South African De Villiers
DARIO SILVA PLAYS FOOTBALL AGAIN: NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE! This deserves a mention & a grand tribute after witnessing the comeback to the Uruguayan football field. DARIO SILVA. Two years ago the Uruguayan International star lost his leg in a near death car accident that ended his career. The ex Deportivo, Espanyol & Sevilla FC player didn’t except his fate & promised himself that he would again play football. Now two years after that accident, he is setting an example to the whole World that nothing, absolutely nothing is impossible. Great stuff Dario, we missed you & thanks for your emotion filled example for us all.
