Dear Inland Trader,

I have lived here for more than 35 years, and in Lliria for 25 of those years. Logically I have been absorbed by the local way of life, and have mostly forgotten my childhood and youth in England. I just missed a couple of things, which these days are available in Spain anyway. A few years ago British people started to live here, and I first noticed this phenomenon when I found Inland Trader, free, at my local newsagent, so I started to take it regularly.

I don't know if the British tradesmen and professionals who advertise in Inland Trader are better or cheaper than their Spanish counterparts, but I suppose they give a useful service to some. But I take the paper for the articles, especially Spain-Trotting by Andy Bray. I can identify with many of the experiences he writes about, and find his style amusing. But his last contribution - part 28 (1-14 feb) is just a re-hash of previous articles. Don't let him go, but tell him to pull his finger out.

I didn't know the name or the book, so I searched internet, and could only find an actor from Star Wars. I finally found the book mentioned, and it is in the rankings at 750000 in the best seller list, but I am sure it must be good.

Keep it up.

Hello,
In your article in 18th-31st January you had an article about all the extra costs added on by airlines.
I don't know whether you were also aware that Ryanair even charge you to check- in, on-line now. As you have no baggage (or are carrying it onto the aircraft), and are not using a check-in desk how do they justify a charge for no service provided.
*Their in-flight refreshments are also more expensive than the rest.
*Their airport taxes on a return flight to Valencia from Stansted are more than on Easyjet - same airport so why more?
Wasn't sure how many people were aware of these things from "Rip-off-air" - sorry meant Ryanair.
Paula
ps. Maybe you should pass this onto Which so they can give the whole story.

Thanks

Everyone at P.E.P.A. would like to give a very big ‘thank you’ to Simon and Jo, the new owners of El Romeral in La Drova for their kindness in donating all the excellent prizes for a P.E.P.A. raffle on their opening night, which took place on Saturday, 16th February.   Through their generosity we collected 403.30 euros, which will make a wonderful contribution to helping some of those poor, abandoned dogs and towards the sterilization of feral cats.    We would like to take this opportunity of wishing them much success in their new venture.

From all at P.E.P.A

Is this good security?

On the 16 December my wife and I had to fly to Holland, at the security check we went through the necessary things, metal items in the tray - including my trouser belt metal buckle. Much to our surprise when I past though the metal detector arch, the alarm went off so I was told to go through again which I did, the alarm went off again. I was told to carry on and not to worry. We went to the cafeteria to have a coffee. The episode would not leave us alone and after some five minutes the bell in my head rang “I had a replacement knee” since I last flew. On the return journey I told security I had a replacement knee and they just waved me on. No request to see the scar or a doctor’s certificate, though that would be easy enough to forge. But I do ask is this security or just to give the public confidence to fly?

Dear all

I wonder if anyone can answer my question. When sending a text message from my Movistar phone to the UK, why is it 0.75 cents (+IVA) when the rest of Western Europe is only 0.35 cents (+IVA). It seems that Movistar classes the UK as being part of the rest of the world and not Europe.
The cost was 0.60 (+IVA) up until very recently which is bad enough, but now it has increased another 0.15 cents. When my family send me a text to Spain the cost to them is under 0.20 cents.
