DOLPHIN STAIRLIFTS – CREATING ACCESS SOLUTIONS FOR ALL
With an upsurge in the number of British citizens either retiring to Spain or buying holiday homes to escape from the British Winter. Dolphin Stairlifts, established in the UK in 1989, having built its reputation by offering top quality, value for money products to single users, local authorities, private companies and social services departments. Major advances in the development of mobility equipment over the past five years has resulted in a change of attitude towards those who would previously have gone into residential care. With more and more people now choosing the option to live in Spain and for people who have lived here for some time, Dolphin has considered the products which are more suitable for their customers here. One of which is the exciting new Oxford Dipper Pool Hoist, a flexible, reliable and safe method of gaining access to swimming pools, therapy pools and quaysides for wheelchair users and the less able. The Dipper is a hydraulic hoist, which is quick to install, easy-to-use and perfect for the Spanish environment. In addition, Dolphin Stairlifts has expanded its range of access equipment to include Vertical Platform Lifts and Incline Platform Lifts to meet new Spanish public access for all legislation.
More commonly acquired are the Minivator Stairlifts. Designed for indoor and outdoor use, with the ability to be installed to either straight or curved staircases. The Minivator Stairlift has proven to be a reliable and affordable option. Easy-to-use toggle controls for the less dexterous and supplied with two remote controls fitted top and bottom, to be able to call the lift when in the opposite position. Safety features include sensors which stop the lift immediately when the lift comes into contact with an obstruction, such as a child toy. Plus a swivel seat which can be turned to allow the user to mount and dismount the lift at the top of the staircase easily and safely.
“We tested and evaluated all the products available to us before making our decision on which were most suitable here in Spain” says Managing Director, Rob Edwards. “The Minivator came up trumps. We install many in the UK every year and we are one of the leading suppliers and installers. We found the Minivator to be the most reliable, which is a big benefit to our customers. With large distances for our engineers to cover in Spain, call outs needed to be minimized. With the Minivator, we confidently install knowing that it is unlikely for it to breakdown. But should this happen our engineers can respond quickly as they are often installing locally.
Price was also a consideration for us. After all, being able to supply a product was one thing. But making it affordable to our customers was another. Fortunately our relationship with Minivator as one of their main distributors, gave us the ability to keep the price here in Spain comparable to the cost in the UK.
