Feeling a little homesick? Fancy something a little spicy washed down with a Cobra? Or maybe watching your favourite footie team with a pie and a pint? Well, your oasis is not as far away as your think. Posh Spice Indian Restaurant and the Sports Lounge in Caudete offer all of the above and much, much more.
Posh Spice Indian Restaurant was opened in January by husband and wife team, Posh and Surj Mahey, from Wolverhampton. Both Posh, 29 and Surj, 27 have travelled India sampling the food and drinks of the continent. Posh has worked in Indian restaurants in the UK and the couple’s love of Indian food inspired them to
open their ownrestaurant

With a highly experienced team consisting of Babu, the Head Chef with 19 years experience of Indian catering in Spain including training others to use the Tandoori clay oven. Second Chef, Avtar Singh a 23 year old Tandoori Chef, worked in a restaurant in Punjab for 2 years before moving to Spain to work in Torrevieja for 3 years. This team of professionals at Posh Spice brings you the authentic tastes of India. Their Indian cuisine is a wonderful combination of subtle tastes and wonderful aromas. Each dish has its own individual flavour and aroma, which is created from the herbs and spices prepared by Babu and Avtar. Posh Spice’s kitchen is full of authentic Indian cookery equipment essential to creating superb Indian food, including a clay tandoori oven shipped over from the UK. Speciality Indian beer, Cobra is imported to complete the whole experience. Posh Mahey has been surprised by the locals reaction to the restaurant, he told I.T “They love it, we are surprised at how the Spanish have taken to it.” Posh Spice offers diners the best in Indian cuisine in a newly renovated restaurant located to the rear of the Caudete Sports Lounge. Mike and Janette DeCarlo, originally from Kent opened the Sports Bar in April 2005 in Caudete, when they realized there was a real need for this type of bar inland. It really does live up to its name with Sky Sports on the wide screen TV and the English football on a Saturday. If your husband or boyfriend goes missing you’ll know where to look! They hold regular pool, darts and quiz nights where the prizes are always worth winning. Quentin Campbell was lucky enough to win flights to the UK recently so keep your eye out for him! The bar is run by Eileen and Ray who obviously work very hard to make the bar a very welcoming place to drink. The recently refurbished bar is spacious with large sofas, perfect for supping a pint and watching the match. Or, for you ladies, opening a bottle and catching up on the gossip!

If you’ve got a celebration coming up then you should get along to the Sports Lounge and book your party now. They will provide a buffet, disco and invitations free for anyone booking the venue for a party. You can’t say fairer than that! The combination of the Sports Lounge and Posh Spice Indian Restaurant is a winning one and we wish Posh and Surj the very best for 2006.
