Reader’s question
This week I am going to demonstrate how an astrologer would look at a question from someone or indeed when looking at their own lives. One of the advantages of reading astrology is that when I am not busy interpreting other peoples birth charts is that when I need a question answered or want to know what is the best time to do something I can look at my own transits.
Basically a transit is the how the current or future positions of the planets are in relation to your natal planets. When we are born the planets in the solar system are in position in the sky dependent on the exact time, date and place we are born. They are unique to you and when for example, I want to answer a question I look at the relationships between the planets in the sky on a given date.
For example, I am writing this article on 9th June. The position of the sun is in Gemini, the Moon is in Scorpio, Mercury is in cancer, Venus is in Taurus, Mars is in Leo and Jupiter is in Scorpio. These are all “personal” planets, so called because they are nearest to the sun.
The planets that are furthest away exert the greatest influence over the most important events in life. The planets of Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto all take longer to orbit the sun and therefore their effects are more lasting. The minor transits of the quicker moving planets provide effects that are fleeting. The moon is only in a planet for 2-3 days and as it is the planet that rules emotions, this is probably why we as humans can often feel so up and down emotionally from one day to the next
So when I am looking at my transits for the minor planets for today they tell me both positive and negative things. They can reassure and tell me things that I had already had a suspicion about. For example currently I have a Jupiter opposition Saturn aspect and this is a negative aspect. Jupiter, although a personal planet takes longer than the other personal planets to transit through a chart (it averages about one sign a year.) Saturn takes about 2 and a half years to travel through a sign and for me this transit means that my current desire to grow and expand is at odds with the need for restructure and reorganisation in my life. I want things to happen but things aren’t going as planned. The time is not right for these new plans to take root, but the time is ripe for revision into old plans.
Something is telling me to push forward but there is something telling me take note of my limitations. Frustrations are inevitable with this placement and unfortunately for me it is in my horoscope until September. I know from the signs and houses of the planets of Saturn (Taurus and in the 10th house which is its natal position) and the current position of Jupiter in Scorpio and in my 4th house that my luck centred round the home is going through a delay, which is true. I want to move house, but have to play a waiting game dependent on finances and matters related with career, which are represented by my Saturn in Taurus and the 10th house. Hopefully I will see light at the end of the tunnel come late September when Jupiter moves out of opposition with my natal Saturn and the goals that I want to achieve will be able to forge ahead without limitation.
It is not always a bad thing, as Saturn is the great lesson giver in the zodiac and what I will learn are ways to react to challenges and frustrations. It doesn’t mean that I won’t get there in the end. So astrology is a useful tool to look at everyday concerns or questions.
Next issue I hope to have a readers question, so feel free to contact me if you have a concern or query over any issue that centres around the home, children, work, finances or romance or whatever is pressing on your mind because as you can see from this weeks feature it is possible for astrologers to throw light on these matters..
