Walk into any car showroom and you will see a host of new cars and an ‘Arthur Daley’ of one sort or another ready to sell you one. What you probably won’t get is a tour of the workshop where the business of repairing your car will take place.
Walk into the showroom of CAR COUNTRY in Pobla De Vallbona and you get to see Japanese models of Suzuki and Nissan. But it’s behind the mirrored wall that you will find the core and dedication of co-owner Luis Peris.
From the first moment you meet Luis you know you are dealing with a man who knows his Pistons from his Spark Plugs! This is no Arthur Daley. If you really want to see this man’s dedication to his job ask him what is behind the mirrored wall and he’ll probably show you.
There you will find a family enterprise of six employees and Luis himself, most of the time, doing a professional and highly skilled job of repairing or servicing the latest road failure.
What is most apparent is Luis’ dedication and enthusiasm to any vehicle that comes in off the street. Cars are his passion. It is very evident to see. “Cars have been a lifelong passion for me” Luis says. “Cars are always friendly and I like to take care of them”.
CAR COUNTRY has the resources to cope with any problem your car has from anything mechanical to electrical, steering, air-conditioning, tyres, etc. You name it, it can be dealt with.
Luis has been an official dealer of Suzuki and Nissan for over seven years and has been running the garage for nearly 20 years. It is not only IT that promotes CAR COUNTRY, Chris from Soft Options of Lliria say Luis is the best at what he does. “We’d recommend CAR COUNTRY. Luis is very knowledgeable. He and his staff are very good and we’re glad we found them”.
Their recommendation came after Luis sorted out all their Insurance requirements when they initially came to the area, and they continue to go back if their car needs any attention.
CAR COUNTRY will also arrange I.T.V a Spanish equivalent of the British M.O.T), carry out other work such as repairing lights, gears, brakes, and even has the facilities to do Coachwork paint.
What makes CAR COUNTRY unique is that also behind the mirrored wall, there are Vintage cars. Luis’ speciality is in restoring old cars to their former glory. At present Luis is working on a 1934 Aston Martin, a 1954 Jaguar MK7, and the Jaguar XK150. There is also a Lotus, a SL Mercedes, and pride of place is a 1972 Rolls Royce Cornice that has taken 5 years to restore.
“I love Rolls Royce”, says Luis. “When you strip a Rolls Royce you can see the quality. There is nothing on earth like it. I love British cars, they have more character”.
Luis, who is also a qualified Pilot, began the business with his wife Conchin in the summer of 1989 after finishing his Law studies. The business began by importing cars from Germany to meet an increasing local demand for better quality cars.
Now, 17 years later, CAR COUNTRY is a well established garage that is currently offering up to 25% discount on many common parts, and semi-synthetic oil is currently 4 euros per litre.
