“a l'estiu, tot lo món viu”
With old rituals of fire and water we find ourselves in the summer. Days of strong heat that give us cool evenings. The earth shows us the awaited fruits having fulfilled its design by following the cycle of the sun and arriving at its zenith. These are days of holidays, free time, fun and dancing. It is time for the great festival.
THE NIGHT OF SANT JOHN
“per Sant Joan, el primer bany” Summer begins with the festival of Saint John The Baptist, traditionally considered as the shortest night of the year. Surrounded by a mysterious aureole, the Night Of Saint John joins, above all in coastal areas, a large quantity of people to practise the old rituals of fire and water. Jumping through the waves or fire is thought to bring good luck and renewing the personal tradition each year becomes almost obligatory. Xirivella, Massanassa, Aldaia, and the beaches of Valencia Vilamarxant and Xeraco are some of the places where this mythical festival shines with most splendour
